SOCIEDADE BRASILEIRA DE GEOLOGIA - BRAZILIAN
SOCIETY OF GEOLOGY Paraná Sector, jointly with
MINEROPAR- Paraná Minerals S.A. and AGEPAR-
Paraná Association of Geologist will sponsor the
5th Brazilian Symposium on Diamond Geology to be
held in Tibagi, Paraná State, Brazil, from
November 06th to 12th, 2010.
The fifth edition of this event intends to be as
successful as those previously accomplished
in1993, 1997, 2001 and 2005. In 2010, following
the same guidelines that originated the Diamond
Geology Brazilian Symposium, we expect to get
together Brazilian and international community
devoted to the study of the diamond worldwide,
propitiating a forum for extensive and valuable
discussion on the theme.
The host town of such important event, Tibagi,
in Paraná State, Brazil, is one of the most
antique gold and diamond producer areas in the
Brazilian territory. It has been explored by
gold panners, scrougers and adventurers since
1754, contributing for the diamond production in
the XVIII century, when Brazil was acknowledged
as the largest diamond world producer.
The organized exploration began in 1890 by an
English company. The mines peak production
occurred in 1912, 1923, also between 1930 and
1940, later in1980, and more recently in 2005.
Today, the city - a growing tourist pole - is
structured with restaurants, hotels, farm
housing and lodgings, providing cultural, rural
and radical sports activities. |
